The charges against Robert Lewis Jr., ISU fullback, were dropped Monday when the bartender Lewis allegedly threatened and threw a drink at during an incident on April 2 failed to show up at the Story County Associate District Court for the trial.

The Story County Clerk of Courts office confirmed the charges were dismissed.

After being arrested and charged with simple assault on June 24, Lewis was dismissed from the ISU football team by Coach Dan McCarney for violating team rules.

Lewis, senior in animal science, was a walk-on to the Cyclone football team from LaMarque, Texas.

In other news, cornerback Jamarcus Powers pleaded not guilty Monday to a charge of domestic abuse in Story County Associate District Court.

No trial date has been set. Powers was arrested along with his girlfriend, Jamie Reedholm, on July 9.

Powers was immediately suspended by McCarney and will remain so with litigation pending.

A senior from LaMarque, Texas, Powers was forced to redshirt last season following an injury sustained in a game against Iowa.

He had a solid campaign in 1998, making 31 tackles and leading the team in passes broken up with seven.
