Cael Sanderson’s bid for the Olympics ended when he fell 7-3 to third-seeded Mike Van Arsdale, a former wrestler at Iowa State.
Seeded second at 187.25 in the tournament, Sanderson now moves into the consolation bracket of the mini-tournament.
However, he now has no chance at qualifying for the Olympics.
After going 2-0 on Thursday, former Cyclone Chris Bono lost in the finals of the tournament to Pat Santaro at 152.
Former Cyclone Eric Akin, a four-time NCAA All-American in the early 1990s, advanced to the finals at 119 with two wins.
However, he too fell in the finals.
Cody Sanderson lost his first match at the trials to Mujaahid Maynard 4-3 at 127.75 pounds.
