I’ll see you in hell, Chamberlain

Sarah Schweitzer

To the editor:

In response to Peris Chamberlain’s April 5 letter to the editor: It takes a lot to get me upset. Congrats, Mr. Chamberlain!

Being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender is NOT A LIFESTYLE! It’s NOT A CHOICE! It’s LOVE! It’s love for our partners and children; it’s the love of ourselves; it’s being able to accept ourselves and stand up for what we believe. Even against Mr. Chamberlain, who calls me a deviant and someone who is “destroying heterosexual unions.”

Yeah, I am a homo and a queer, I am a dyke, a fag, a sinner, and I am surely going to hell. I’ll see you there, Mr. Chamberlain, because the God I love will not love those who judge others based on trivialities like who I choose to share my life with.

I did not choose to be a lesbian I didn’t choose to be ousted by you, Mr. Chamberlain, or your society. If society breeds people like you, I do not want to be a part of it. You don’t have to say the word hate, for all of your words are clear.

Hatred is not always out loud and in your face, but I cannot help but believe that you don’t love the “sinners.” I will state once again: Fred Phelps will be here on Monday to tell all of us sinners that we are going to burn in hell, and you can join Christopher Rickert there.
