B.E.P. in the house
April 12, 2000
To the editor:
In response to Monday’s editorial, no one is to blame for signing the Black Eyed Peas at Veishea. They’re a good group.
It’s too bad you guys seem to think that just because they’re not Foo Fighters or the Chili Peppers, that they’re going to suck. How can you come to this conclusion? I’ve discovered some of the coolest groups by complete chance.
The reason Black Eyed Peas are headlining and not some group like Mr. Plow is because unlike Mr. Plow, B.E.P. has a national, maybe even international following, which is putting them on the upswing. They’ve even opened for Cypress Hill.
But the point is that B.E.P. isn’t a waste of time. They have a lot of talent. It’s a real shame that just because you haven’t heard of them you can assume that they suck. This year’s Rock Veishea should be a good time, unlike with last year’s, ack, the Goo Goo Dolls.
No, it’s not good old rock and roll or gangsta rap, but hey, those aren’t the only things out there. So give Black Eyed Peas a chance before you start ripping them apart. They’re better than you think.
