‘I can speak for most,’ freshman says

Letter to the Editor
To the editor:
In response to Monday’s “Homosexual Glorification Special Edition” of the Daily, I must say I was disgusted.
I accept that the Daily is a liberal left-wing publication. But what disappoints me is how irresponsibly liberal it has become.
Showing a large color spread of a man in drag and a picture of two men kissing on the back page is going too far.
A newspaper should report news that people are concerned about. I go to the Daily for news relevant to me and my community, not to see a platform for a controversial lifestyle.
A large majority of the Iowa State population has no interest in seeing such controversial, irrelevant material in their paper.
The gay/lesbian community can not constitute more then 2 percent or 3 percent of the student population, yet the Daily uses large amounts of the two most viewed portions of the paper to glorify the homosexual lifestyle.
I think I can speak for most of the students when I say that this is not what we want in our campus newspaper.
