Carleton scores 34 as No. 18 Iowa State falls to TCU on the road 76-69

Despite a 34 point double-double from Bridget Carleton, No. 18 Iowa State lost 76-69 to Texas Christian University.
Carleton’s complete stat line was 34 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Kristin Scott was the only other Cyclone in double digits. She had 15 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Iowa State’s other starters, Madi Wise, Ashley Joens and Alexa Middleton, combined to score 16 points.
Iowa State had their worst shooting night in seven games, as the team only connected on 37.5 percent of their shots from the floor and 28.1 percent of their attempts from three point range.
Meanwhile, TCU was led by Lauren Heard, who scored 27 points. Heard was aided in the Horned Frogs’ scoring effort by Amy Okonkwo, who had 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Jordan Moore, who had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
TCU shot only shot 35.9 percent from the field, but their three point shooting percentage was 44.4 percent.
With the loss, Iowa State’s Big 12 record is 8-4, which is still good for third in the conference. Texas is still in second, while Baylor holds the top spot in the conference.
Overall, Iowa State has a record of 18-6, but the loss may have implications for Iowa State’s standings for the NCAA Tournament. Iowa State debuted in the first NCAA top 16 as a four seed on Monday.
Looking ahead in the schedule, Iowa State will have a home game versus Oklahoma State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
