Accident on Beach
March 1, 2000
Firefighters help move an unidentified male who was injured Tuesday night after being struck by a gray Honda Civic on Beach Avenue. The single-car accident occurred at about 7 p.m. near Stephens Auditorium. The force of the pedestrian hitting the windshield created a hole of about 12 inches in the windshield of the Civic and caused heavy splintering. The pedestrian, whose name was not released by Ames Police Tuesday night, was transported on a stretcher to Mary Greeley Medical Center with his neck stabilized. Police said the extent of the pedestrian’s injuries was not known, and the driver was not injured.
