Acting on an impulse – and loving it!

Alicia L. Carriquiry

To the editor:

I am finally acting on the impulse I get every time I read a good article in the Daily (which is just about every day) and writing to congratulate you on a job very well done.

The article that motivated me to write is one that appeared in today’s issue, on the results of the recent presidential elections in Uruguay.

I happen to be Uruguayan, and well aware of the relative “minuteness” of my country relative to its neighbors and to the rest of the world.

Yet, the complete lack of coverage of Uruguayan and other small countries’ affairs, and the very spotty coverage of much of the rest of the world’s affairs we get from some of the newspapers that circulate in Iowa, is very frustrating. Thursday’s article was accurate, informative and presented a nice view of the political climate in Uruguay these days.

Again, thanks for the international (and all other!) news, and congratulations on the quality of the product you put out daily.
