To the editor:

I always thought basketball was a game of five on five. That is until tonight when I realized the Iowa State, Michigan State game was five on eight.

I was dumfounded as I watched the gallant and superior effort of the Iowa State Cyclones succumb to outrageous call after outrageous call by the three referees.

Half the Michigan State team should be in jail after the mugging the Cyclones took from them.

I have seen bad calls but never such a lopsided affair as I witnessed tonight. Even the close up replays clearly showed the Spartans repeatedly shoving off before they made their play to the basket.

Dozens of calls were missed but not when it came to calling the most innocuous calls against Iowa State.

I was amazed that Iowa State’s coach, Larry Eustacy, was able to control himself until the last bad call with only 10 seconds left.

What made this even worse was that the commentators NEVER once pointed out the obvious push offs by the Spartans and horrendous calls by the refs.

CBS should be publicly flogged and court marshaled if they fail to reprimand and punish the commentators for their glaring bias toward Michigan State.

The NCAA should prohibit these three refs from ever calling another game!
