To the editor:

I write in support of the Student Environmental Council petition for the divestment of Iowa State from companies affiliated with the Global Climate Commission.

Iowa State is more closely affiliated with the lobbying group than just being invested in various member-corporations.

President Jischke is on the Board of Directors at Kerr-McGee Corporation, which is a member of Chemical Manufacturers of America, which is a member of the infamous anti-environmental GCC.

Kerr-McGee is also a member of the American Petroleum Institute, which has signed on to GCC.

It’s amazing the dirt one can dig up with only a few Internet searches.

I applaud the Student Environmental Council’s action on this issue and challenge them and other concerned students and faculty to protest the university’s affiliations with the GCC.
