Flickinger obviously angry, judgmental

Joe Parker

To the editor:

Josh Flickinger is the reason for this letter. I have grown increasingly tired of reading poorly written sports articles filled with the personal views of an obviously angry, judgmental young man with little to do in his free time.

Josh has written very few good things about the ISU football team and he is unable to write an informational article without injecting his “expert” opinion.

The articles I’ve read over the past two years have done everything from give us his reasons our ISU athletic teams are not great to … well that’s just about all he has done, isn’t it?

I’ve also noticed that he does not cover any of the university’s non-revenue sports. Is this because he does not have an understanding of other sports?

I doubt that it is a lack of understanding. I would guess that it is more a lack of interest in sports and athletes that do not have easily attackable public figures.

If the Daily is going to garner the respect of even the students that read the paper each day, then it should at least give some weekly coverage of all of the sports at the university it is allegedly serving.

The Daily should also distance itself from writers that are unable to write informational sports articles. Josh Flickinger’s articles belong in the opinion page of the Daily, then sports fans would get what they are seeking—sports information.

I understand that no change will occur due to this letter but I feel better knowing that the opinion of more than a few students has been relayed to the Daily and more specifically to young Mr. Flickinger.
