I, too, love Paul Shirley

Marissa Erickson

To the editor:

After reading Sara Ziegler’s column “Paul Shirley, will you be my valentine?” I have been given the courage to come forward with my own feelings for Paul.

I have admired Paul since his freshman year at Iowa State, which goes back to my junior year in high school. I have had my fair share of Paul sightings but I have never had the courage to talk with him.

My friends, being the wonderful people that they are, went to the trouble of arranging for Paul to call me on my birthday this year.

Much to their delight, he agreed to do it but, to my dismay, they forgot to remind him when my birthday was. Therefore, I never got my birthday wish.

Paul, even though it’s not my birthday anymore you can call me anytime you want to. While I can’t claim to be an official member of “The Paul Shirley Fan Club,” I am very interested in membership. I will simply end this letter by stating that Paul Shirley, in my heart, you will always be my valentine.
