Donating eggs

Rachel Hein

To the editor:

I seem to be reading this ad more and more often: “ATTENTION ALL IOWA STATE WOMEN! Jump on the socially acceptable baby-bandwagon and hawk YOUR eggs TODAY.”

Try to ignore the fact that there are already over six billion humans competing for space and resources on our finite planet. The babies you sold won’t even be children for at LEAST another couple of years, so there is no need to worry about their future.

Continue to ignore the 40,000 children who die of starvation every day.

They weren’t the right color, age, gender or race any way.

Remember: The mixing of eggs and sperm within a test tube is just another way of saying, “I love you.”

“OPPORTUNITIES JUST LIKE THIS, COMING TO A CAMPUS NEAR YOU!”

Some restrictions apply. Must be financially vulnerable and ideologically/ethically/morally unprepared to face the realities and consequences of selling your eggs.

Participants assume all moral, environmental and ethical repercussions. Participants must believe that breeding a child is more important than caring for an existing child.

Sexism, racism, social status, societal pressure, selfishness, ageism and greed are not applicable to this offer.

Overlook for a moment the questionable existence of God and his/her ability to bestow gifts of infertility, and ignore findings which point to toxins, manufactured and released by humans, as the cause for increased rates of infertility.
