The Ames Choral Society will present its cabaret program this weekend at the ACTORS studio, 120 Abraham Drive.

“The cabaret show is a way to showcase individual and group talent and to raise money for the Ames Choral Society,” said Marilyn Devick, publicity chairwoman of Ames Choral Society.

Choral, small group and individual performances are featured in the program, which is filled with songs to get the audience ready for spring. Songs include “June Is Busting Out All Over,” “My Funny Valentine,” “It Might As Well Be Spring,” “Easter Parade,” “April Showers,” “Sugartime” and “When It’s Springtime in the Rockies.”

“The show is an opportunity to have fun and do something other than the normal choral music,” said Leslie Kawaler, president of Ames Choral Society.

Besides the spring selections, love songs such as “When I Fall in Love,” “So In Love,” “A Love Until the End of Time” and “I Wish You Love” are included in the program along with many other songs to complete the evening’s entertainment.

“Most of us started working on the individual numbers last fall, but we started working on the choral pieces in January,” Devick said.

The show will take place at the ACTORS studio, which will be taking on the ambiance of a small nightclub setting, with intimate seating for about 100 people. Refreshments and beverages will be available with a requested donation.

“The cabaret show is an entertaining evening that everyone in Ames Choral Society enjoys participating in,” said Sharron Gilson, co-chairwoman of the cabaret show.

The performances will take place Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Devick advises to get tickets as soon as possible from Choral Society members, John Huber Clothier, 404 Main St., or Rieman Music, 409 Douglas St., because the show expects to be sold out.

Tickets are $6 and may be available at the door if space permits.
