Gore all about farming and tobacco!

Tim Kelly

To the editor:

Yes, Al Gore does know farming. He and his family are expert tobacco farmers.

You wouldn’t know that from his constant hypocritical attacks on tobacco.

I guess it’s okay for him to attack tobacco farmers since his family has already made a fortune from it. He lied to us all at the 1996 Democratic Convention about ceasing tobacco farming after his sister died. He kept on growing it. In fact, Gore family farms still grow tobacco in Tennessee.

Gore family tobacco growing permits are still current at the Carthage, Tenn. courthouse. Al Gore begged and pleaded with North Carolina tobacco farmers for their fiscal support in his 1988 presidential bid.

Yes, Al Gore knows farming. The only concern he has for the farmer is how it benefits him and the Democratic Party machinery.
