IRHA hoping to fill vacated vice president seat soon
January 18, 2000
Two executive positions were filled at the Inter-Residence Hall Association’s first meeting of the semester Thursday night. IRHA Vice President Joe Foster also resigned from his position.
Foster said he resigned so he could concentrate on matters that he felt he needed to work on, including class work.
“I need to focus more on my efforts of why I am here at ISU,” Foster said. “A focus on academics has to be my No. 1 priority.”
The vice president is in charge of running the meetings, and the position is part of the executive board.
“I really have enjoyed student government and the opportunity to meet new people,” Foster said.
The new vice president will be chosen after an open application process. After that, IRHA President David Sims and a selected panel will interview all candidates.
Applications are due to IRHA Friday. The new vice president will be appointed before IRHA’s third meeting, which will be Jan. 27.
In new business, Paul Duncan was selected to be the IRHA director of finance, and Katie Rau was selected to be IRHA’s director of academic affairs. Duncan and Rau were chosen after open applications and interviews were given.
“I have taken many accounting classes here and have managed my own stock portfolio,” Duncan said about his qualifications for his position.
Rau served on IRHA parliament last semester, and she said she’s ready for the new challenge.
Both executive positions had been vacant since the end of last semester. Kyle Jacobsen, former IRHA director of finance, left for an internship. Brad Pederson, former IRHA director of academic affairs, decided to live in the greek system.
