The information in the log is obtained from Department of Public Safety reports released to the Daily. All those accused of violating the law are innocent until proven guilty in court.
Jan. 12
* Judy Lowe, Nevada, reported the side of her vehicle was scratched while parked in Lot 28. Damage was estimated at $300.
* DPS received a report of a suspicious odor coming from Room 7212 in Knapp Hall. Contact was made with the occupants, and a small amount of marijuana was observed. A search warrant was secured, and additional marijuana was seized. Justin B. Keller, 19, and Brent J. Schreiber, 19, both of 7212 Knapp Hall, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and prohibited acts.
Jan. 13
* The Story County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident near the ISU Animal Science Teaching Center Livestock Pavilion in Story County. The accident caused damage to about two-tenths of mile of fencing owned by Iowa State.
* Department of Residence staff reported seeing an individual with a handgun at Friley Hall. Follow-up investigation by DPS officers found that the weapon was a pellet gun. The pellet gun was seized.
* A student reported that he lost his wallet and contents at Friley Hall.
* A faculty member reported that he lost his wallet and contents outside his office in MacKay Hall.
* A systems support specialist in the economics department in Heady Hall reported that someone had placed software games on a computer server without proper authority.
Jan. 14
* A student living in Knapp Hall reported receiving harassing telephone calls.
* DPS was advised that Room 205 in Industrial Education I had been entered by breaking a glass in the door. Cupboard doors were found open, but it is unknown what may be missing.
* DPS received information from a person who had witnessed a hit and run accident in Lot 65. The parked vehicle that was struck was gone when DPS officers arrived. DPS is attempting to locate the owners of the two vehicles involved.
* DPS was advised that Room 121 in the Engineering Annex had been entered. About $40 was taken that belonged to four individuals who shared that room.
Jan. 15
* During a routine traffic stop at South Fourth Street and Elwood Drive, Kristin Holmes, 20, 301 S. Fifth St., was found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage and was also found to be under the legal age. Holmes was referred to the Department of Transportation for a .02 civil violation.
* A set of keys was found in Lot 61. There is a name on the key ring, and DPS will return them to the owner.
* DPS assisted with a 9-year-old who had sustained a finger injury in the Memorial Union bowling alley. The parents took the child to the hospital for X-rays.
Jan. 16
* Steven Rogers, 4252 Knapp Hall, reported that while his vehicle was parked in Lot 61, someone entered the vehicle and stole about $600 in stereo equipment.
* Department of Residence Student Security officers reported a person in Lot 59 carrying an open container of alcohol. DPS officers found Andrew Ray Spracher, 18, Bouton, to be in an intoxicated state. Spracher was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
* Dai Ong, 1596 Helser Hall, reported that someone spray painted his vehicle with red paint while it was parked in Lot 59C.
* John Sullivan, Ames, reported that while playing in a basketball game at State Gym, he was talking with one of the other players when that person struck him in the mouth.
