In Wednesday’s article “A Cyclone Century,” the Daily inaccurately reported that Iowa State College was renamed Iowa State University in April 1927 after a student referendum approved the change.
The students did approve the name change, but Iowa State College did not officially become a university until the Board of Regents approved the change in 1959. The change took effect on July 4, 1959.
The Daily regrets the error.
