Tara Gunderson’s ISU career

Daily Staff Writer

Sunday afternoon, Iowa State point guard Stacy Frese eclipsed Tara Gunderson’s Cyclone record of 198 three pointers. Frese hit three treys during the game, giving her an even 200 so far during her Iowa State career. Gunderson played for the Cyclones from 1993-1997.

“I just hope Stacy [Frese’s] record doesn’t completely knock Tara Gunderson out of the equation, because nothing’s going to knock her out of the hearts of this program. Gunny scored a lot of points for us back when we were just getting this thing started. All of these people coming out to see us and all the success we’ve had — she was a big part of that. Stacy broke the record of a great kid, and that’s the way it’s supposed to be.”
