Faculty, staff invited to Vilsack’s open house

As state employees, all Iowa State faculty and staff are invited to attend a holiday open house in Gov. Tom Vilsack’s office on the first floor of the State Capitol in Des Moines on Dec. 10.

The event will be hosted by Vilsack and his wife, Christie, and Lt. Gov. Sally Pederson. It will be held at two times: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Deadline approaches to change benefit options

The open enrollment period for ISU employees to change benefits options ends Friday at 5 p.m. Employees can enroll online through AccessPlus or with a form from the benefits office in Room 16 of Beardshear Hall.

The benefits office will mail confirmation statements Tuesday, and corrections to the statements are due Dec. 14.

Health and dental plan changes will go into effect Feb. 1, while most other benefits change Jan. 1.

Open forum to address retirement planning

An open forum on retirement planning will be held today at noon in the Pioneer Room of the Memorial Union.

Ann Doty, retirement information specialist for Iowa State, will give an overview of the services and programs offered at ISU. She also will talk about some non-financial issues in retirement planning that people should think about.

Following the forum at 2 p.m. is the December P & S Council meeting, which is open to all employees.
