McCain rules

Doug Hogan

I am presenting to you a candidate for the Republican nomination for U.S. president, John McCain.

Why John McCain? Well, after reading and doing my own research on all Republican and Democratic nominees, I know John McCain is a true leader and not so much of a politician.

John’s leadership has been tested his whole life. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Naval aviator, a Vietnam POW for 5 1/2 years and a U.S. senator from Arizona for the past 13 years.

His whole life, John McCain has thrived on challenges, from narrowly escaping death on the flight deck of the USS Forrestal, to persevering for 5 1/2 years as a prisoner of war in Hanoi to his outstanding service in the U.S. Senate.

These are challenges that no other candidate can say he has faced and overcome. McCain truly knows the definition of what it means to live by service before self.

As President, I know John McCain will keep the nation’s interests before his personal interest.

This is the type of leader we need after our current president.

We need to restore some sense of respect for the executive office. John McCain will do that. No more scandals and lies from the leader of the free world.

With John McCain, you will get something else that no candidate can offer — the truth.

Many Washington analysts have made direct links between John McCain and Teddy Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt was a straight up honest man with the courage to call wasteful legislation or political games B.S. on the spot.

That is what Washington needs right now. We need a president who does not buy into the political games and bow to the demands of special interest groups.

I would love to go on into details of John McCain’s plans for campaign finance reform, education, reforming government, health care and all of the other issues every candidate faces. However, you have finals to study for.

Therefore, check out the issues on your leisure time at the sites www.mccaininteractive.com/ or www.McCain2000.com/. Go ahead and get involved. He really needs the help in Iowa. Finally, the answer to why he is not in Iowa is in two parts.

The Ames straw poll in August really hurt his exposure in Iowa. We as Iowans need to show America that our votes cannot be bought.

McCain realizes how much he would be insulting the smart voters of Iowa if he were to try to buy your vote, also.

He does not have tens of millions given to him like the front runner candidate.

So please help out in Iowa by signing up at the above Web sites or contacting me at 286-0829 or [email protected]. Thank you for your time.
