“Family Showcases” will be on display throughout Iowa during the month of November.

The College of Family and Consumer Sciences and the ISU Extension to Families are hosting showcases throughout the state with exhibits and displays from departments and programs within the FCS college.

“The purpose is to share successful programs and seek input from alumni, friends and staff regarding future activities,” said JaneAnn Stout, associate dean and director to families.

The showcases will be held at nine locations in Iowa, beginning in Ames today at the Scheman Building from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A brief program will be held at 5 p.m. where FCS Dean Carol Meeks will speak and give a brief presentation.

Topics at the showcases will include “Strengthening Family for Parents and Youth Ages 10 to 14,” “Money 2000” and “Childcare that Works,” said Mary Jo Glanville, FCS communications specialist.

“It is a chance to share work that we have been doing and to increase visibility,” Stout said.

In addition to viewing the displays and giving feedback on them, there will be the opportunity to interact with faculty and staff, she said.

Stout said participants will learn more about the college and will be able to provide input on its future.

The event is for alumni by invitation, she said, but those people without invitations who are interested are welcome to come.

The showcases will be held in eight other locations during the same hours:
