Minced issues

Matt Steinmueller

I would like to ask Mr. Rodeck, Ms. Strysko, Ms. Johnson and Ms. Basak which agenda they were trying to promote in “Ag Week important”?

Were you trying to scapegoat gays in your quest to advance the awareness of agriculture, or were you using Ag Week as a platform for your intolerance of people who are different from you?

Here’s what you’ve accomplished: You’ve successfully put yourselves at odds with a fellow organization that, until now, had no reason to dislike you since being in agriculture has NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING GAY!

I don’t know why you chose to pick on the LGBTAA. It seems you had the answer to your problem, which was to find a board representative for the Daily who cares about Ag Week.

You’ve created real issues for agriculture students who are homosexual. What are they supposed to think about your letter?

You’ve publicly humiliated your entire college. By speaking for the College of Agriculture, you’ve given the impression that everyone in agriculture is a terrible homophobe like you. It’s a disgrace that the “future of America,” as you put it, has been labeled as a society of intolerance because of the ignorance of a few students.

I believe I’m a part of the future of America, too. I demand you apologize for speaking on my behalf.

The next time you decide to mince issues that have nothing to do with each other, maybe you should start with a disclaimer.
