Counting Crows’ third studio recording, “This Desert Life,” is due out on Nov. 3.

“[‘This Desert Life’] is sort of stranger sounding, I think. It’s not quite as heavy, and it’s not quite as mopey either,” band leader Adam Duritz told MTV News.

“We were just in a different mood when we were making this album.”

The group will perform at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom on Nov. 23.

Rage Against the Machine is going Gap. Actually, the band is spoofing the clothing giant’s commercials in their upcoming video of “Guerilla Radio,” according to CDNow.

The song is the current single off the band’s upcoming third album, “The Battle of Los Angeles,” which will be available Nov. 2.

While many bands have already appeared on the Gap commercials, including Aerosmith members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry as well as Luscious Jackson, this just might be the first time that the catchy ads get used for something other than selling clothes to trend followers.

Nov. 2 also marks the release date of the Foo Fighters’ third album, “There Is Nothing Left To Lose.”

The Foo’s first video, “Learn To Fly,” can currently be seen via the Internet. Download it at www.mtv.com/nav/intro_az.html.

As if cyberspace wasn’t enough, the Foos are fighting their way onto the tube.

The group will be the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” Nov. 6.

The following week they’ll perform at MTV’s Sports & Music Festival, which is scheduled to air on Nov. 13, according to MTV News.

The band also tried a change of roles by having drummer Taylor Hawkins give it a go on the microphone.

His vocals are tested on “Have A Cigar.”

You’ll have to wait to have a cigar of your own in celebration of the song as there is no domestic release planned for the track yet.

However, it will be appearing as a B-side on the import “Learn To Fly” single, according to MTV News.
