Perhaps this is just the cynic in me, but does it seem convenient that Timo Seppalainen and Eric Hiatt are both in mathematics?

I’m sure it is just one of those coincidences, but it would appear to the outsider that Seppalainen doesn’t care about what Hiatt says, but that he is simply supporting one of his favorite students.

I hope for the credibility of both that I am wrong; however, I hardly think that this one detail can rescue Mr. Hiatt from the deep water that he has so thoughtlessly thrown himself into.
