Junior in comp sci calls for new arts and entertainment editor

Brian Williams

Isn’t it about time the Daily found an arts and entertainment editor who knows a little something about music?

Corey Moss’ article on Monday marks the third time this semester that he’s classified The Offspring as “white guys who rap.”

Would somebody please at least buy Mr. Moss an Offspring CD so he could find this alleged rap for me?

There are five albums to choose from, and last time I listened, they were all loaded with punk.

The only song by the Offspring that remotely resembles rap is “Pretty Fly for a White Guy.”

“Why Don’t You Get a Job” is reggae, which you may have heard of, even though it is not on MTV.

The rap influence in “Pretty Fly” is only to help the song’s message about pathetic white posers and wannabes who wear their hats backwards and can’t shut up about Vanilla Ice.

Not that we know anyone like that, Corey.

“Hmm, wonder where they’d be without the Iceman today.”

Let’s think about that one.

They would have released two awesome punk albums before finding commercial success with their third punk album, then went on to write two more popular punk albums and a lot more punk singles.

As for Eminem, without Vanilla Ice, he’d probably still be completely unknown, instead of endlessly repeating his idiotic lyrics from the stereos of the tasteless.

Thanks a lot for THAT one, Ice.
