“Amazing,” “expressive” and “enchanting” were just a few of the words that were whispered during the performance of the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Sunday.

And with good reason. The audience continually was stimulated by an intriguing spectrum of creativity.

The show consisted of six pieces, all of which were very different and provided the audience with a buffet of entertainment.

The high point of the performance was during a piece titled “Group Therapy.” The dance incorporated traditional Broadway musical elements with big-band theatrics.

“Group Therapy” interpreted a couples’ counseling session, focusing individually on four couples’ marital problems. “Group Therapy” was impressively energetic, witty and beautifully choreographed.

The Hubbard Street Dance Chicago paid attention to the most important aspects of modern dance, ballet and jazz. All of the dancers were in top physical shape and extremely well-rehearsed.

From the moment the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago took the stage, they captured the audience’s attention with their creativity and expressiveness.

Lou Conte, director of the troupe, has schooled the dancers to artistic and technical perfection. The group paid great attention to detail with flawless technique and placement. Every leap, turn and kick seemed perfect.

Perhaps the most fascinating part of the performance was the physical stamina of the dancers.

Despite the vigorous routine, the troupe never showed fatigue, making it seem as though every piece was the first.

The Hubbard Street Dance Chicago proved to be top-notch and in sync with their New York competitors. The performance provided a wonderful addition to Stephens impressive performing arts roster.
