Olin Research Fellow to address racism

Dinesh D’Souza, Olin Research Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, will give a lecture titled “Racism Is Not the Problem” tonight at 8 in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union.

His lecture is free and open to the public.

A 1983 graduate of Dartmouth College, D’Souza served as senior domestic policy analyst at the White House in 1987 and 1988.

He also is an author, and his books include “The End of Racism,” “Ronald Reagan: How an Ordinary Man Became an Extraordinary Leader” and “Illiberal Education,” a 1991 New York Times best seller.

D’Souza, in a November 1997 interview with the “Atlantic Monthly,” said that it is minorities’ responsibility to overcome subordinate positions.

“The main responsibility for reforming the cultural deficiencies of the black underclass falls to the African-American community,” D’Souza said in that interview.

The lecture is sponsored by the College Republicans, Young America’s Foundation and the Committee on Lectures.
