The annual College of Family and Consumer Sciences Career Day will be held today from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union.

About 100 companies and organizations are expected to have booths at the fair, a 20 percent increase from last year’s event, said Mary Joan Glanville, communications specialist for Family and Consumer Sciences administration.

The fair is part of the college’s career week, titled “Celebrating a Promising Future,” which began Monday.

National as well as local companies and organizations will be at the fair, which will give students a wide range of employers to talk to, Glanville said.

“Students should come prepared to ask questions about what companies want,” she said, adding that students should bring r‚sum‚s.

Glanville said the fair is open to students in any major, and she encourages everyone from freshmen to graduate students to attend.

Employers are looking for both prospective interns and full-time employees, and some will have interview schedules open Thursday for any interested students, Glanville said.

Lands’ End, Eddie Bauer, Maytag Corporation, Marriott, Applebee’s and Chili’s Grill and Bar are a few of the well-known companies that will be there, she said.
