Freedom?

Douglas Ficek

Albert Farr, how can you honestly advocate freedom while writing an article that suggests the ISU Atheist & Agnostic Society should dismantle itself?

All of the reasoning is there (though faulty), and I suspect your question concerning the organization’s justification is merely a disguised expression of your fear that this group will make people think.

Your comments are unwarranted. It is clear you haven’t listened to anything we’ve said nor have you attended our meetings to see what we’re about.

You claim you “haven’t heard of any Christians … killing non-believers” implying persecution alone would justify the existence of an atheistic organization.

Do you think the Ping-Pong Club needs persecution for its existence to be justified? I hope not.

Had you done your research, you would have discovered there are documented cases of hate crimes against atheists and agnostics. You also would have discovered many minority groups suffer persecution at the hands of Christians. The evidence doesn’t support your invalid criterion.

You stated the ISU Atheist & Agnostic Society makes it “hard to be a Christian.” This organization has done nothing of that magnitude. What makes it hard to be a Christian isn’t any organization, but the scientific, philosophical and historical information that is out there.

If Christians are “huge” people, as you suggest, they should be able to receive that information without censorship and make their own judgements.
