Latin kudos

Dr. Hector Avalos

Kudos to the editorial board of the Daily for recognizing the importance of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Let me add another activity that can be done at ISU, and that is to enroll in our U.S. Latino Studies classes. We have two new ones coming in the spring: Religious Studies 342x: Religious Themes and Symbolisms in U.S. Latino Literature to be taught by me; and a course in U.S. Latino history to be taught by Dr. Jerry Garcia, the newest member of our Latino Studies faculty.

These courses will enable all students at ISU to learn more about Latinos after Hispanic Heritage Month ends.
