Iowa State entered Saturday’s matchup with Texas Christian (TCU) on a four-game winning streak, staring at a chance to win the Big 12 regular season title.

TCU had other plans. The Horned Frogs used a 27-4 first-half run to get ahead and they never looked back, leaving Hilton Coliseum with a 92-83 win. The Cyclones dropped to 18-6 (7-4 Big 12) with the loss.

Iowa State started strong, taking a 13-4 lead within the first six minutes. A dry spell took that lead away.

TCU went on a 27-4 run, leading by as many as 14 points in the first half. The Cyclones trimmed the lead before halftime and trailed 36-29 going into the break.

Redshirt junior forward Michael Jacobson led the Cyclones in the first half with 10 points (5-of-6 shooting) and four rebounds in 14 minutes. Iowa State hit only one 3-pointer in the first half on 11 attempts.

In the second half, TCU’s offense generated points on nearly every possession. The Horned Frogs started 12-of-15 from the floor after halftime.

Redshirt senior guard Marial Shayok led Iowa State with 24 points.
