Food drive

Erik Wayne

Alpha Phi Omega, a service organization on campus, is sponsoring a Fall Food Drive. We would like to invite other campus organizations to join us in making this one of the most worthwhile service projects in Ames.

Your organization will get to participate in a large-scale service project, APO will get to organize a major project, and the underprivileged of Ames will get balanced and nutritious meals.

APO will handle advertising, supplies, coordinating with food pantries, recording donations and recording contributions.

Your organization will be asked to staple fliers to 500 to 700 collection bags, distribute the collection bags on Wednesday evening, Oct. 13, and pick up donated canned goods on Saturday, Oct. 16.

We will arrange to have the food pantries open and ready to receive foodstuffs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. that Saturday.

The organization that collects the most food items will receive a trophy for its efforts.

If your organization is interested in participating in this worthwhile service project, please contact Erik Wayne at [email protected] by Oct. 1 and give the name of your service chairperson.

If you have questions, contact the fraternity adviser, Herb Strasser at 294-9434 or [email protected].

We will assign each participating organization a section of Ames to canvas. We plan to divide up Ames into 35 different collection areas. If you have a preference of area, please specify that area.
