Miller’s upbeat approach to college life angers reader

After reading Jonathan Miller’s column, I was shocked at how he portrayed student success.

Who is he to say how any student can or can not succeed?

The very fact that we are paying to be here allows us the right to act in the way that we want.

It reminds me of something he said to me once my freshman year. He told me I wasn’t living up to my potential and was wasting my time.

Now he is preaching this motivation to the entire campus.

Sure, a person can make a fresh start, but with people like Jonathan Miller preaching and reminding us of what we have done wrong, no one can have a fresh start.

This entire column, “Iowa State is what you make it,” is totally hypocritical to everything I have ever heard Jon Miller say, and he should be the last person to preach about achieving your potential.

Next time, Mr. Miller, talk about something you know and don’t preach to us students — we know why we’re here.
