Reader defends Miller’s advice

Shawn Spooner

After reading Shanna Zilisch’s response to Jonathan Miller’s column “Iowa State is what you make it,” I was shocked at how misled Zilisch is.

Perhaps her motivation to respond the way she did was in the course of a personal vendetta, I don’t know, but after reading Miller’s column, I was quite motivated.

I realized that ISU provides opportunities that we would otherwise not have.

ISU can open doors that we didn’t even know existed.

I happen to have done a little research on Jonathan Miller.

Miller has compiled three motivational books and is currently running a successful business of his own.

He is a professional motivational speaker who speaks to companies, various organizations and to students.

He writes motivational columns, has been president of a large campus organization,d all while being a student here at ISU.

I believe his experience here at ISU gives him all the right in the world to give advice to students on how to succeed.

I applaud Miller for speaking out to new and older students alike and reminding them of the opportunities that ISU can provide for them.

I too encourage all students not to take ISU for granted.

Get involved, meet new people, learn new things.

Get out there and make the most of your time at ISU!
