Spivey pleads not guilty to sexual abuse charges

Iowa State basketball player Travis Spivey has pleaded not guilty to two counts of third-degree sexual abuse to two teen-age girls, according to reports from the Tribune.

Court records state Spivey is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl on June 12 in his 112 Hickory Drive apartment.

Spivey, 21, admitted to having sex with the 15-year-old, an act which violated the law because of the girl’s age.

He also is accused of forcing himself on both girls, runaways from Youth and Shelter Services.

The girls told police they drank alcohol, and one said she smoked marijuana at Spivey’s duplex after meeting him in the parking lot of Kum and Go, 203 Welch Ave., the night before on June 11.

The girls filed their complaints with Ames Police on June 15.

If convicted, Spivey will face third-degree sexual abuse charges.

Spivey was suspended from the basketball team after his arrest June 23.
