A university fiscal report was released last week by Auditor of State Richard Johnson.

The ISU financial statement for the 1997-98 fiscal year found the university’s total revenue of $765,652,649 was a 10 percent increase over the prior fiscal year.

The revenues included $98,067,468 for tuition and fees, $272,440,353 from state appropriations, $88,001,346 from federal appropriations, grants and contracts, and $79,863,768 from sales and services of auxiliary enterprises.

At the end of the 1997-98 fiscal year, ISU had total expenditures of $670,048,585 which was a 6 percent decrease from the year before.

The expenditures included $480,177,619 for educational and general purposes, $77,915,713 for auxiliary enterprises and $20,760,421 for principal and interest on long-term debt.

The report found the full-time student enrollment at ISU to be 23,931 and the cost per student to be $9,672 for the year that ended June 30, 1998.

Andy Nielsen, deputy auditor of state, said the auditor’s report was relatively standard.

“[The report] didn’t contain any earth-shaking news,” he said. “The university has a couple of little things to improve.”
