Ex-coach turns herself in to local authorities

Former Iowa State head volleyball coach Kerry Miller turned herself over to authorities last week, almost two weeks after a warrant had been issued for her arrest.

According to the Ames Tribune, at approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, Miller came to the Story County Courthouse with counsel J.D. Hartung to face charges of submitting a false academic transcript, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,500 fine.

On May 11, Story County Attorney Stephen Holmes issued an arrest warrant for Miller. ISU DPS officers attempted to arrest her at her home at 1315 Big Bluestem Court, but she had already fled to her parents home in New Jersey.

Miller allegedly indicated on her ISU resume that she had graduated from the University of Arizona, although university officials at Arizona have denied that she ever received a diploma there.

According to Ames Tribune reports, Miller pleaded not guilty. A trial date has not yet been set.

Miller resigned April 21, after a tumultuous season at ISU. Her team went 3-27 on the year, and three players left the squad, citing Miller as their reason for leaving.
