The Iowa State women’s basketball team finished their Scandinavian tour last week by beating Varberg 103-36 Thursday and the Norwegian All-Stars 107-52 Friday.

In both games, every ISU player scored.

Angie Welle recorded her third double-double Thursday, leading the Cyclones with 20 points and 10 rebounds, according to the Iowa State Cyclones’ website.

Desiree Francis also recorded a double-double Thursday with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

In Friday’s game, the Cyclones hit 10 three-pointers in the first half, and was leading 56-26 after 20 minutes. They hit 62.5 percent from three-point range in the game.

Tracy Gahan hit 13 of 17 shots Friday, including five of six three-pointers. She led the Cyclones in scoring with 31 points. Welle and Francis had 17 points each.

The Cyclones had four wins and a loss during their Scandinavian tour. They started by sweeping Denmark last weekend before heading to Sweden. Last Tuesday they lost to Swedish team EOS Malbas in overtime.

Last year’s top scorers Stacy Frese and Megan Taylor stayed in the States for the U.S. National Team tryouts.

“This has been a fantastic experience in so many ways for all of us,” head coach Bill Fennelly said. “Our kids have spread the Cyclone spirit around the world. All of our players played very well and very hard. I hope that the players who had to assume new roles with Stacy [Frese] and Megan [Taylor] gone can build on this and take it to the court next season. Lastly, and most importantly, I want to thank Gene Smith for allowing us to make this trip and provide all of us with an experience we will always remember.”

The team was scheduled to return to Iowa last night.
