Kudos for the greeks who put the ‘special’ in Special Olympics
April 2, 1999
We want to thank the Ames community, but more importantly, the students of Iowa State for their support of Special Olympics.
The members of the fraternities and sororities at Iowa State made the 1999 Polar Bear Plunge a huge success.
The Greek Week committee made the plunge a part of Greek Week, with houses earning Greek Week points for their participation.
Each house was to provide a minimum of seven plungers, each plunger raising $50.
This year’s Polar Bear Plunge raised over $14,000, more than tripling the 1998 total.
Too often the students get bad publicity because of the actions of a few.
This time, a large number of students took it upon themselves to make life a little better for the mentally handicapped by supporting Special Olympics.
We want to say thank you Iowa State greek students for your support of Special Olympics.
You have made a difference.
