Moss beyond belief

I can’t believe that in Corey Moss’ article covering summer music festivals there was no coverage of one of the biggest music festivals in the world that takes place about six hours from Ames.

Summerfest, an annual event on Milwaukee’s lakeshore, is 11 consecutive days of fun in the sun while surrounded by a variety of musical choices offered on 12 different stages. Visitors pay one admission to get into the grounds for the day ($9-$10) and can then enjoy free concerts all day long.

Some of this year’s headlining acts include The Village People, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Hootie and the Blowfish, Los Lobos, Deana Carter, Journey, Vonda Shepard, Semisonic, Reel Big Fish, Shawn Mullins, Silverchair, Verve Pipe, The Gufs and Collective Soul.

The Marcus Amphitheater is also connected to the Summerfest grounds and features one big concert each night for which regular concert admission prices apply.

Currently, the lineup is Rod Stewart, BoDeans with Chris Isaak, R. Kelly and Foxy Brown, Dave Matthews Band, Alan Jackson, Lauryn Hill, John Mellencamp, and Bob Dylan and Paul Simon.

Summerfest runs from June 24 to July 4, and I would encourage everyone in the area to come visit Milwaukee for an excellent summer event. Check it out at www.summerfest.com. I would also encourage the Daily to mention it if any more articles about summer getaways are written.
