Concert review like a Knief in the heart

In response to Amanda Knief’s story about the concert, we would just like to point out a few things. Were you at the same concert we were?

George Strait put on one hell of a show. No, he isn’t like “today’s” version of country. He doesn’t parade around on stage.

He comes and sings. That’s what we pay money to see. We sure as heck didn’t spend $50 on our seats to see him get on stage and tell us his life story. We can read that for free.

George is what’s left of “traditional” country. His 19-plus albums prove that he doesn’t need to be anything like the Dixie Chicks or Tim McGraw. All that man has to do is sing.

And, as far as not singing songs people knew, do you know every single song of your favorite artist?

George has been singing since before most of us were born. His first debut came in 1976, and he’s got well over 250 songs out there. He does have some recent hits out, but his audience is NOT college age students only. He has fans older than my own parents.

His songs didn’t get the same reaction as everyone else’s songs for one simple reason: HE ISN’T LIKE THEM.

There was still cheering and applauding, but maybe you were part of that “one-fourth of the audience” that left early. That’s too bad because the show we went to was one hell of an act.
