Editor’s Note: SoapBoxing is a forum for members of the Iowa State and Ames communities to rave about various topics. Send interview requests via e-mail to [email protected]. This week, Matt Craft, Government of the Student Body president, sounds off.
MTV’s “The Real World” — “It’s stupid. There’s so many people with so many weird characteristics; no one is normal. It’s set up for people to laugh at them.”
Late night snacks — “[My favorite] is pudding, no doubt. I can go through six to eight little pudding cups in a night. We’re talking anything — chocolate, vanilla, lemon — all except tapioca. I’ve never warmed up to that.”
Jackson Five and Wyclef Jean — “Everyone hears me singing along to the Jackson Five. All the Motown stuff is pretty good. [Wyclef Jean] has only got one album out. He’s a character. His music’s got a lot of emotion in it.”
Peanut butter: chunky vs. creamy — “Chunky, it’s more hearty; it’s a meal. Creamy’s just too weak. Actually, I grew up on creamy. I was in like sixth, seventh or eighth grade, I was at my grandma’s, and all she had was chunky. It blew me away that you could put stuff in peanut butter.”
Porno movies — “I haven’t really seen any of those; I’m usually at church most of the time. I don’t associate with any person who might watch those kind of movies.”
The Transformer: Optimus Prime — “He was definitely the coolest one of the bunch; you don’t mess with him. [Optimus Prime] was one of the few [figures] I had. I couldn’t get the full set, but Optimus was definitely one I had.”
Fight: Martin Jischke vs. Thomas Hill — “That’s a tough one. I might give the edge to Thomas Hill. I always hear the theme from ‘Shaft’ when he enters a room; he’s kind of got that attitude. Jischke would give him a good fight, though.”
