Confusing sports with real life is evidence of intellectual rot

Shawn Miller’s letter from the April 13 edition of the Daily makes some worthy suggestions.

I would love to see a few athletic scholarships redirected to individuals who aspire to help and change the world through social work, nursing, teaching or art.

Jack Trice’s death in a ball game was a tragedy and a waste but no more honorable than death in a bike accident.

Confusing sports with real causes worth dying for is evidence of serious intellectual rot.
