Faculty Senate

Bryan E. Cain

Contrary to a front page article in the Feb. 17 Daily, the Faculty Senate has NOT approved any of the 27 recommendations of its library committee. NOR has it advocated any sort of “electronic” library.

The Senate has only formally accepted the committee’s report and thanked them for their work.

Not only is it not too late for interested parties to pass their opinions to the Senate, the discussion has barely begun.

Serious issues not covered in the committee’s report also need study.

The library is very important to the faculty, but its management is NOT a faculty responsibility nor the Faculty Senate’s job.

How did we get to where the Faculty Senate needed to intervene?
