Marilyn Manson fills Hole in current tour

Law suits, law suits are no fun. Law suits, law suits hurt everyone. Former Tony! Toni! Tone! member Raphael Saadiq is being sued for over $200,000 by his former employee, Ruth Carson, for a number of reasons, including breach of a written contract.

Saadiq seems to feel that Carson has no reason to sue him as he fired her for divulging information to third parties that was detrimental to Saadiq’s reputation, according to Rocktropolis. Carson, of course, denied the accusation.

Soularium Music is suing Dixie college for canceling a Cypress Hill and Murder City Devils concert in St. George, Utah. The concert promoter filed a lawsuit on March 24 accusing the state-run school of restricting free speech and breach of contract, according to Rocktropolis.

Concert Updates

If you had your hopes set on attending the Woodstock ’99 festival in Austria this year, too bad. The show has been postponed for the summer of 2000 or 2001.

However, the New York concert, scheduled for July 23 to 25, is still a go. Nearly 40 acts will be announced in early April, according to Rocktropolis.

Holey Moley! Hole has gotten its act together quite quickly after the Hole-Marilyn Manson fiasco. The female dominated rock band has been confirmed for the Edgefest tour in Canada this summer. Beck and Eve 6 may also be performing at the event, but definite plans are still up in the air.

Edgefest is in its third year and has been proven as the place to be for fun in the summer sun. Last year’s tour featured Green Day, Foo Fighters, Moist, Tripping Daisy, Bif Naked, Sloan and the Tea Party, according to Carrie Borzillo of Rocktropolis.

Marilyn Manson gracefully recuperated from the defunct Hole-Manson tour by filling the hole, no pun intended, with Nashville Pussy. The fire-breathing band will finish out the tour with Manson until April 27, with the possibility of a few more shows being added.

Jack Off Jill and Ye Ol’ Glittery One will be opening for some of Manson’s tour dates, according to Rocktropolis.

The ties between Jack Off Jill and Manson are quite deep, Manson even helped come up with the lovely name.

R.E.M. has also scheduled an excellent summer tour. Wilco, Mercury Rev and Spacehog will be opening at most of the shows, while fellow Athens natives Olivia Tremor Control and Elf Power will open at the Atlanta performances.

Upcoming Releases

The Guns N’ Roses covers keep coming (You may recall that Luna recently covered the following tune for its new album due out May 25). “Sweet Child O’ Mine” will be performed by Sheryl Crow for Adam Sandler’s next flick, “Big Daddy.”

The movie will premiere on June 25, and the soundtrack will be in stores a few weeks earlier.

ZZ Top will have a new album out before the end of the year, according to Rocktropolis.

The “Little Ol’ Band from Texas,” as guitarist Billy Gibbons says, is currently in the studio working on its0

…………………… thirteenth album, which is yet to be titled.
