Dating service

Tim Shanks

This is in response to Peter Borchers’ Feb. 8, 1999, story “Looking for love in all the wrong campus locations.”

I know the feeling of looking for love and what’s it’s like to be turned down time after time. Well, one day my roommate and I were sitting around just talking, and he came up with a good idea.

He suggested that since I was good with designing web sites and such, maybe I should design a dating service on the web for ISU students. I looked at him and thought he was nuts at first, but then I got thinking: What if this actually works? Would my women troubles be over? Yeah, right. Anyhow, so I went with the idea and designed what we called the “ISU Dating Service.”

It consists of a web page and a mailing list. The mailing list is set up so that all you have to do is send a message to the list with your “stats” and hope that someone will return a message.

Well, I found a site where I could host a mailing list. The site I picked is www.onelist.com, and the mailing list is “ISU-Dating-Service.” All you need is an email address, and you can sign up and become part of the mailing list!

And if you want to see any of the past posts or subscribe to the list, go to www.geocities.com/ SiliconValley/Campus/4778/isudatingservice.htm and look there.

So, if you’re looking for a new place to find love, and you’re not afraid to use your computer, I suggest trying the new list! Who knows what you’ll find?
