Limp Bizkit sets release date

After March 15 there will be two former Beatles in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame for their solo work. John Lennon was inducted in 1994, six years after the Beatles were honored.

Paul McCartney released a 25th anniversary edition of “Band on the Run” yesterday in celebration of his induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

The remastered version of the 1973 original is available with “an additional disc of previously unreleased demos and acoustic renditions of the album’s tracks,” MTV News reported.

In addition to a few dialogue tracks, the two-disc set also will contain live songs that were recorded during the 1975, 1990 and 1993 Paul McCartney and Wings world tours.

April showers seem far away, but the folks at Del-Fi are excited to pour some sugary-sweet pop music down on you on the 20th.

“Delphonic Sounds Today!” is a “tribute/compendium featuring 20 new interpretations of classic and obscure Del-Fi songs by new bands,” a recent press release stated.

The Wondermints, Los Straitjackets, Man or Astroman? and The Liquor Giants are just a few of the pop-induced artists who will appear on the 20-track album, said Steve Stanley, Del-Fi’s National Sales Director.

Les Claypool, Method Man,and Scott Weiland will appear on the upcoming Limp Bizkit album. “Significant Other” is slated for release on July 6. Limp Bizkit’s label, Flip/Interscope, is considering “Nookie” as the album’s first single, according to Rocktropolis.

As for touring, Limp Bizkit will be headlining Korn’s Family Values tour and might appear at the Woodstock ’99 festival in Rome, N.Y., July 23-25.

The knee-slapping Old 97s plan to release “Fight Songs” on April 27, MTV News reported. “Murder (Or a Heart Attack),” a song that exemplifies the band’s move from “cow-punk” to a “slightly more Brit-pop kind of guitar sound,” will be the first single from “Fight Songs,” vocalist/guitarist Rhett Miller said.

The recently-aired PBS television special, “A Tribute to Muddy Waters: King of the Blues,” has spurred a live tribute album that is scheduled for an early summer release. John Hiatt, Peter Wolf, Buddy Guy and Keb’ Mo’ will appear on the album, according to Rocktropolis.

If you missed the Jan. 27 PBS airing of “Muddy Waters,” study your TV Guide for when the 90-minute tribute concert will be shown again in late March or early April.

Winner of the 1998 Juno (the Canadian equivalent to a Grammy,) Award for Best New Group, The Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra, will bring its big-band sound to the Val Air Ballroom in Des Moines on Tuesday.

The 12-piece Halifax-based group is known to blend orchestrated covers such as Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog” into its live set.
