The Government of the Student Body discussed several funding bills at its Wednesday night meeting.

Old business:

  • A bill titled “Security and Convenience for the Student Office Space” was tabled until next week’s meeting so the senate could hear further recommendations from the GSB finance committee.
  • A bill titled “Funding for Ethnic Crossroads Conference” sought funding for the Ethnic Crossroads Conference for the Cultural Kaleidoscope Peers student organization. The bill passed with a vote of 23-4, granting $750 to the club.
  • A bill titled “Taking Care of GSB/GWC Account” sought to allocate funds from the George Washington Carver account for various events. The bill was tabled until next week’s meeting.

New business:

  • A bill sought funding for the purchase of two new Ford Taurus cars for the GSB vehicle fleet.
  • A bill sought funding for the purchase of a new van to replace an old existing van in the GSB vehicle fleet.
  • A bill sought to clarify the new off-campus constitution approved by the students and to replace the Off-Campus Council with the Off-Campus Government.
  • A bill sought to propose the allocation of next year’s student fees to the senate.
  • A bill sought funding for the 1999 GSB Leadership Banquet.

All tabled bills and bills brought up under new business will be discussed and voted on at next Wednesday’s GSB meeting.
