Candlelight vigil planned for NFL quarterback’s son

A candlelight vigil will be held on Sunday in honor of NFL quarterback Jim Kelly’s son who is suffering from Krabbes disease.

Kelly’s son, Hunter, will celebrate his second birthday on Valentine’s Day.

A short video about Hunter’s life will be shown at 5:30 p.m. in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union. Following the video, a candlelight ceremony will be held outside the MU, weather permitting.

Krabbes disease is a rare leukodystrophic disease that eats away the myelin sheath of the brain and causes the sufferer to lose bodily control.

Special candles are being sold to raise funds for the Hunter’s Hope Foundation. Candles cost $5 and are available from Becky Wood, organizer of the Hunter’s Hope fund raiser.

She can be reached at 292-3806 ext. 35.
